Paris is more than 2,000 years old. Gaul’s of the Parisii tribe settled there between 250 and 200 BC and founded a fishing village on an island in the river that is the present-day Ile de la Cité -- the center around which Paris developed.
Attractions:
- Eiffel Tower
No building better symbolises Paris than the Tour Eiffel. And no visit is complete without a climb to the top.
The Eiffel Tower is an iron lattice tower located on the Champs de Mars in Paris. Built in 1889, it has become both a global icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world. The tower is the tallest building in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world; millions of people ascend it every year. Named for its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, the tower was built as the entrance arch to the 1889 World’s fair;
- The Louvre
The Musée du Louvre is one of the world's largest museums, the most visited art museum in the world and a historic monument. A central landmark of Paris, it is located on the Right Bank of the Seine in the 1st arrondissement. Nearly 35,000 objects from prehistory to the 19th century are exhibited over an area of 60,600 square metres;
- Sacré – Couer
The church of Sacré-Coeur is one of the landmarks of Paris and more specifically of Montmartre. Constructed in memory of the fallen of 1870, according to the design laid out by Paul Abadie, the church is made of limestone which whitens in the rain. It is not a parish church, but a place of pilgrimage: people come from all over the world to worship the Sacré Coeur de Jésus. The Neo-Byzantine style of the group of buildings was widely debated and the construction work lasted from 1876 to 1914, despite large public funding and the work of three architects. There is a remarkable view from the dome.
There are other attractions such as the abundance of famous restaurants and a very good variety of culture throughout the city streets. There used also to be tours through the city sewers but not anymore due to it’s conditions.
